LUTON TOWN'S PROGRAMME WINS CMMA AWARD
Luton Town Football Club's Uptonaway inspired official matchday
magazine for 2004/05 season was recently named as the
Commercial and Marketing Managers' Association League One Programme
of the Year.
The programme was designed and edited by Chris Rivett, who left
full-time employment with the Club early this year to set-up
upton(a)way media.
The Hatters' matchday magazine oversaw a dramatic makeover during
the summer, and confined with an innovative matt laminated cover it
has been well received by supporters and club officials alike since
it made it's debut against AFC Ajax in July 2004. Several other
pioneering design touches, for example: listing the date and
opponents on the spine of the programme so the particular games can
be instantly recognised when part of a pile, have all contributed to the
overall affect which has seen the programme pick up the prestigious
trophy. The award is voted for by the commercial and media
departments at all Football League clubs and therefore represents
the definitive programme award within the game.
When reviewed in December's issue of Programme Monthly,
they commented: "This well proportioned programme is
attractively presented without restoring to any garish use of the
club colours. There is a good range of articles, which cover the
basics of a programme well. A particularly eye catching feature
is the satin-effect front cover, which provides a most attractive
finish. Edited by Chris Rivett."
